Industry Leader Says the Coronavirus is Unknown; Cautions Commercial & Residential Buyers

Unscrupulous sellers across the country are falsely claiming both commercial and in-home air purification systems kill Coronavirus. While air purification technologies, including GreenTech Environmental’s proprietary methods, have been used successfully to curb the spread of viruses including SARS and even Ebola, no air purification system has published results of singular and scientific testing against the coronavirus.

As the United States grapples with reopening plans for schools, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment facilities, GreenTech Environmental is urging air purification buyers, including commercial and consumer buyers, to use air purification as part of a comprehensive mitigation strategy rather than the singular weapon against the coronavirus.

Earlier this year, the EPA specifically stated, “By themselves, portable air cleaners and HVAC filters are not enough to protect people from the virus that causes COVID-19. When used along with other best practices recommended by CDC and others, filtration can be part of a plan to protect people indoors.”

CEO and founder Allen Johnston of GreenTech Environmental said, “While we stand by the efficacy of our technologies, we’re deeply unsettled by the unsubstantiated claims we see in the air purification marketplace. We want facility managers and the American people to keep their guard up with respect to the transmission of this virus. There is no single technology that mitigates the risk 100 percent.

“Commercial facilities upgrading their HVAC systems or using technologies like drones for purification should also continue to follow CDC guidelines alongside other mitigation efforts, the same is true for personal and residential systems,” Johnson continued.

Since COVID-19 has gripped the nation, GreenTech Environmental is supplying many commercial facilities, office buildings, schools and hospitals looking to upgrade their arsenal against the airborne spread of bacteria and viruses. GreenTech Environmental wants to ensure that it’s technologies are used in conjunction with broader strategies recommended by health professionals and scientists.

“Like all Americans, we’re anxious to get back to restaurants, hotels, theaters, and stadiums, and we know air purification systems have an important role to play in the reopening of America. We want all Americans to feel confident and at ease with the reopening. We are urging the air purification industry to be fact-based and scientifically sound. We look forward to contributing to ongoing air purification research for decades to come,” said Johnston.
