Ashland City, Tenn. — State Water Heaters is inviting racing fans everywhere this Memorial Day to ‘Double’ the company’s donation to the Armed Forces Foundation.
On May 25, State-sponsored Kurt Busch will become the fourth racecar driver in history to attempt the “Double,” racing in both IndyCar’s Indianapolis 500 for Andretti Autosport and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 for Stewart-Haas Racing – 1,100 miles of high-speed racing in one day.
Busch is using the Memorial Day racing events to raise awareness of issues like post-traumatic stress syndrome and the high suicide rates among veterans.
State will donate $25 to the Armed Forces Foundation for every mile Busch completes, and the company is encouraging fans to get in on the action by pledging a small amount to “double” State’s support for military families and veterans.
Fans can make a pledge at KurtBuschDouble.com.
As an advocate and representative of the Armed Forces Foundation, Busch brings attention to the organization and its efforts to assist active-duty and retired military personnel, National Guard, Reserve Components and military families through racing.
“Supporting Kurt in his history-making run at the “Double,” and helping so many of our country’s bravest men and women through a cause close to Kurt’s heart, is a meaningful opportunity for us here at State,” said Jeff Storie, senior manager of marketing for State Water Heaters. “We know our fans and customers have the utmost respect for our troops, and we hope they’ll join Kurt and the Armed Forces Federation’s efforts to support our military families.”
“I’ve been working with the Armed Forces Foundation for the last three years raising awareness for our troops and the struggles they face coming home.” Busch said. “It’s special to race on Memorial Day weekend and pay tribute to all the men and women who defend our freedom.”
The “Double” action will kick off May 25 with the Verizon Indy 500 at noon ET, followed by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 at 6 p.m. ET. For live updates on race day, follow State via Twitter (https://twitter.com/StateIndustries) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/StateIndustries).
