Jan. 2014 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) – hilmor is expanding its hand tool line with the addition of more than 20 new products, which will complement its robust lineup of innovative HVAC/R tools, designed to revolutionize the everyday work of technicians.

At the 2013 AHR Expo, hilmor launched more than 150 separate items across multiple categories, including manifolds, gauges and electronics. The hand tool additions encompass everything from tubing cutters to utility knives and nut drivers.

Three standout tools include:

Folding Utility Knife: Safety is paramount in this tool’s design. The blade-locking mechanism secures the blade and keeps it from coming out during use while the liner lock makes for one-handed operation and extra safety. Its all-metal body, which also has space for five extra blades, features a unique trigger grip that enables easier cutting on the pull. Other features include the Bi-Metal blade that bends and flexes without breaking, a built-in wire-stripping channel for up to 10-gauge wire and a belt clip.

Compact Tubing Cutters: The Compact Tubing Cutters (Small Diameter and Large Diameter) help technicians make one-handed, precision flaring cuts that don’t tear, pinch or kink copper and aluminum tubes. The cast-zinc body and shock-resistant steel wheel reduce burrs while a full-stop threading system offers maximum protection for cutting wheels – both of which extend this hand tool’s life and durability. The Large Diameter Tubing Cutter’s unique, four-roller tracking system keeps the tube from threading, and the flare-cutting groove allows for removal of material.

Quick-Change Magnetic Nut Driver (6″ shaft): The 3″ Quick-Change Magnetic Nut Driver was extremely popular in 2013, and this year, hilmor has added a 6″ shaft version. Constructed with chrome vanadium steel, this tool’s features include a magnetic tip that keeps fasteners firmly in place, a hollow shaft to use on long bolts and a color-coded insert on the bands and bottom to help make size identification easier. The Quick-Change Magnetic Nut Drivers are also designed to allow technicians to quickly switch between 1/4″ and 5/16″, the two most common sizes.

“We created the hilmor line of HVAC/R tools based on a six-year, multimillion dollar research and development process,” said Rich Mathews, senior vice president, marketing, hilmor. “We continued that commitment to addressing unmet needs of HVAC/R techs, and our additional tools reflect that.”

When hilmor launched at the 2013 AHR Expo, it delivered more than 150 new tools to an industry hungry for innovation. There were six premier products:
·         Aluminum Manifold (4-Valve and 2-Valve)
·         Compact Bender
·         Compact Swage Tool
·         Dual Readout Thermometer with Thermocouple Clamps
·         Electronic Gauge with Vacuum Sensor
·         Quick-Engage Flare and Swage

In looking to the future, hilmor plans to stay competitive and bring new tools to market by looking into how existing and new technologies can help make the day-to-day HVAC/R job more effective and efficient.
