RectorSeal, a leading manufacturer of HVAC/R and plumbing accessories, has announced the release of the Dust Free Active Gold for residential and commercial HVAC systems. Active Gold provides three levels of air quality control using a dynamic mix of carbon fiber ionizers, UV light, and active photocatalysts.

Active Gold has carbon fiber ionizers with zero ozone production that attract, capture, and remove millions of virus-carrying dust particles. The unit’s UV-C spectrum germicidal light inactivates microbial activity and provides HVAC system disinfection. Dust Free’s Active Gold utilizes UV-activated catalysts to break down organic pollutants and odors. The product meets the UL 2998 zero ozone emissions standard and is certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Engineered for easy installation and service in metal or fiberglass ductwork, Active Gold features a gasket-sealed mounting plate and a twist-lock power cord to ensure solid power connections are kept despite vibrations and movements.

Other features of Active Gold include:

  • Custom power supply: Protects against high humidity, high salt, and high-temperature HVAC environments.
  • Extended durability: Up to 3000-volt surge protection and a gentle lamp start ensure added durability and prolonged usage.
  • Compliance and compatibility: Meets UL, DE, and FCC approval.

“This product is a triple threat in the HVAC end market, providing a versatile solution to nearly any indoor air quality problem,” said Gregg Burnett, VP and GM of Dust Free. “Active Gold is a superior filtration choice for residential and commercial HVAC installations.”

Viega is the first U.S. manufacturer to make a transition coupling with press technology to join dissimilar materials

Viega continues to find innovative solutions for piping systems with a new line of MegaPress® Transition Couplings that can be used to transition between galvanized or carbon steel pipe and copper, PEX, or stainless steel in seconds. Viega is the first press fitting manufacturer to offer a press coupling of this kind that can be used in commercial, residential, and
industrial applications.

The company will be offering three products available in ½” to 2” sizes:

  • Viega MegaPress ZL Bronze IPS to CTS Transition Coupling (Model: 4813.4ZL) – This transition coupling includes a factory-installed EPDM sealing element and is ideal for transitioning between IPS and CTS piping systems, including PEX.
  • Viega MegaPress ZL Bronze IPS Transition Coupling (Model(s): 4815ZL and 5915ZL) – These couplings include an option for factory-installed EPDM or FKM sealing elements and are ideal for joining carbon steel to stainless steel or galvanized steel to stainless steel.

All of the Viega MegaPress Transition couplings are made of zero-lead (ZL) bronze that can be used to connect dissimilar metals while reducing the risk of galvanic corrosion. The MegaPress Transition Couplings also feature Smart Connect® technology to quickly detect and resolve unpressed connections.
The couplings with EPDM sealing elements carry an NSF-61 rating for potable water.

”Customers have been asking us for this type of product that uses press technology,” said Will Schneider, Product Manager at Viega. “Up until now, transitioning from one type of pipe to another has been challenging and time-consuming with the use of cumbersome traditional joining methods. Now, our
customers have a quick and secure option to connect dissimilar materials.”

Schneider continued, “These transition couplings allow our residential customers to easily retrofit homes with old galvanized potable water lines. They can now use our IPS x CTS transition coupling on the galvanized pipe and add a ProPress® fitting to the street end, to transition to copper, or a ProPress by
PureFlow® adapter to transition to PEX. They are also available in IPS x IPS models with EPDM or FKM seals, allowing commercial or industrial customers to transition from Carbon or Galvanized Steel to Stainless Steel with ease for a variety of applications.”

Product will be available to order starting in late fall 2024. To learn more about Viega’s transition couplings, visit viega.us/press-transition.

Bradley Company, the globally specified leader in drench shower and eyewash fixtures, is the only manufacturer that manufactures both thermostatic mixing valves and emergency safety fixtures. Navigator® Emergency Valves provide reliable tepid water to the safety fixture to achieve 15 minutes of washdown per ANSI 358.1 requirements. These valves are designed with technology to provide precisely tempered water to eye/face washes, drench showers and combination drench shower and eye/face wash units.

Navigator thermostatic mixing valves are engineered to mix incoming hot and cold water to a tepid temperature of 65°F to 95°F (18°C to 35°C), which is conducive to completing the full 15-minute flush. With accurate temperature control to within +/-3 °F, this assures that a user won’t be subjected to very cold water and possibly hypothermia or very hot or scalding water and possibly skin burns.

Specifically, a built-in cold water bypass assures cold water flow if hot water fails or the thermostat loses charge so the user can still get relief in an emergency. A positive shutoff of hot supply when cold supply is lost is also important so the user isn’t exposed to hot water. Each of these features are key in an emergency situation, so the injured person can still get immediate washdown relief without further distress or injury.

The Navigator Valve also offers easy installation and serviceability, with an adjustable set point range with a hex key set screw. Integral checkstops with strainers on the hot and cold inlets are standard.

Other key features include universal mounting capability, maximum operating pressure of 125 psi (860 kPA), and maximum inlet temperature of 180°F (82°C) with recommended inlet temperature of 120°F to 140°F (49°C to 60°C). There is also a 10-year warranty on the liquid-filled thermostat.

With Bradley being the only manufacturer that makes both the Emergency fixture and the Emergency Valve, it is easy to find the cross reference for each fixture and valve.

Navigator® TMV Offers Two Valves in One

Bradley also offers space-saving access to both tempered water and tepid water with its 2-in-1 Navigator® Thermostatic Mixing Valve. Engineered to deliver safe water temperatures to both commercial faucet applications as well as emergency safety eyewash fixtures, this model provides a complete and efficient single mixing valve solution.

With its innovative combination of two valves in one, the Navigator TMV saves on installation time and conserves space under sinks. During regular faucet use, the TMV has a hot and cold water outlet to deliver tempered water for uses such as handwashing; in an emergency, the valve delivers tepid water to the emergency safety eyewash to meet the ANSI/ISEA Z358.1 standard for the required 15-minute flush.

The Navigator TMV is ASSE 1070 and 1071 Certified, and includes a 3/8″ compression fitting to install to the faucet. A reliable liquid-filled thermostat ensures safe water temperature to the eyewash, and a separate wax filled thermostat delivers safe water temperature to the faucet.

With its built-in safety features, the cold water bypass on the eyewash assures cold flow if hot water fails. Navigator TMV also offers anti-scald protection with positive shutoff of hot supply when cold supply is lost.

Designed for reliable precision, Navigator TMVs deliver accurate temperature control to within ± 3° and features an adjustable set point within temperature range.

Ready for easy direct mounting to walls, all materials are 100% factory assembled and tested.
