PVI, a Watts brand, expands its Durawatt electric storage water heater family with the addition of tank sizes up to 2,000 gallons and input up to 234kW. The new capacities provide greater flexibility in addressing the needs of larger facilities and more complex water heating systems, such as those incorporating heat pumps or hybrid plants. PVI also now offers customized versions of Durawatt for up to 3,000 gallons and 360kW input.

With the new sizes, the emission-free, energy-efficient Durawatt series is now available in a broader range of capacities to meet the growing demand for versatile and robust electric water heating solutions in commercial applications. The new sizes deliver the same high performance and efficiency as known from the existing range of Durawatt water heaters, which had inputs ranging from 9kW to 144kW and tank sizes up to 750 gallons.

Enhanced Benefits for Commercial Applications

The Durawatt electric storage water heater supports a wide array of commercial electrification and decarbonization projects. Whether deployed as a stand-alone electric water heating plant, integrated with gas-fired equipment for hybrid systems, or used within a heat pump water heating system for backup, recirculation, and storage, Durawatt is ideal for meeting local codes and regulations efficiently. The water heaters are compliant with ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and are eligible for LEED certification.

Durawatt Key Features and Benefits

  • Expanded Capacity – Now available with 9kW to 234kW input and tank sizes up to 2,000 gallons, Durawatt can support larger volumes and higher recovery requirements, making it suitable for medium-to-large commercial facilities.
  • High Efficiency  With a thermal efficiency of 98%, Durawatt ensures minimal energy waste, supporting sustainability goals.
  • Durable Construction  The AquaPLEX® duplex stainless steel storage tank is highly corrosion-resistant, allowing for higher storage temperatures and ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Simplified Maintenance  The design of individual Incoloy sheathed heating elements, rated at 9kW or 18kW, allows for easier maintenance compared to traditional bundled heating elements. The result is reduced downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Versatile Voltage Options  Standard construction includes 480V 3-phase, with optional 3-phase voltages (208V, 240V, 380V, and 600V) available to match specific project requirements.

Durable, Long-lasting Solution

The robust design of Durawatt includes a 25-year warranty on the AquaPLEX tank. Commercial building owners and facility managers have greater peace of mind and confidence that the system will serve the facility reliably for many years.

Meeting the Needs of Modern Facilities

As commercial buildings increasingly transition to electrification and decarbonization, the expanded Durawatt series offers a versatile solution capable of meeting the diverse needs of current and future projects. Its ability to operate effectively as part of an all-electric or hybrid water heating system makes it indispensable for facility managers and engineers planning to optimize energy efficiency and sustainability.

“We’re thrilled to expand the Durawatt line to better serve the evolving needs of commercial facilities,” said Sharon Cho, Product Manager at PVI. “By offering larger tank sizes and higher kW input, we can provide the reliability, efficiency, and other benefits offered by Durawatt to larger buildings that require greater capacity.”

Cho also emphasized the long-term operating benefits for customers. “The Durawatt water heaters do more than meet the growing demands for electrification. They also simplify maintenance and ensure long-term reliability, making them a smart investment for any commercial facility.”

NTI Boilers, an Ariston Group company, has introduced upgrades to its current flagship wall hung condensing boilers, the TRX and FTVN. The two condensing wall hung boilers now offer a brand new user interface for an enhanced user experience and easier set-up and troubleshooting for the contractor.

The new technology upgrades allow for easier set-up and troubleshooting on NTI’s TRX Series II and FTVN Series II boilers. Standard features on the boilers include factory-supplied capabilities for two zones, an EXTRATECH stainless steel heat exchanger, and integrated and easily-serviced direct hot water filter and boiler kit. The boilers also offer NTI Net for remote troubleshooting and WiFi capability.

NTI FTVN Condensing Wall Hung Boilers

The TRX model includes a water tube heat exchanger, while the FVTN is a fire tube exchanger. In a water tube exchanger, water flows through tubes arranged inside a furnace filled with gas. In the fire tube model, boilers generate heat by pumping hot gas through tubes submerged in water. Fire tube boilers are generally more compact and can be used in smaller spaces while water tube heat exchangers can handle higher pressures.

Systems can be designed to cascade up to eight boilers. The units also include an LP conversion kit, OD sensor, vent pipe screens, pressure gauge and relief valve.

NTI Net provides the contractor or homeowner with the ability for remote troubleshooting after registering and connecting to the home’s WiFi. The connectivity empowers technicians to remotely view real-time boiler data including settings, status, history and statistics in an easily understandable format.

In addition, setting adjustments are more user-friendly. Technicians can modify the setting and submit, and NTI Net will implement the change while tracking who made the adjustment and when it was made.

For more information about all NTI boilers, visit https://ntiboilers.com/ or check out the TRX and FTVN Series II boilers on YouTube.

Watts has announced the launch of the Pure Water Residential Dual Media 45K Softening and Filtration System. This comprehensive whole-house solution combines advanced water softening and filtration in a single, space-saving design.

The Pure Water Residential Dual Media 45K system is engineered to deliver optimal water softening with a maximum ion exchange capacity of 45,000 grains. The system incorporates Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), which effectively reduces chlorine taste and odors while extending the life of the softening resin, offering homeowners both superior performance and enhanced water quality.

In addition to its performance benefits, the system’s design maximizes efficiency and cost-effectiveness. By combining water softening and filtration technologies into one tank, the system reduces the space required for installation and lowers overall costs. The GAC and resin are housed in separate chambers, which not only enhances efficiency, but also reduces media replacement costs. Maintenance is further simplified with the inclusion of a mineral tank dome hole, providing easy access for GAC media replacement.

The Pure Water Residential Dual Media 45K system also features state-of-the-art computer programming, which optimizes operating efficiency and conserves both salt and water.
