Carrier is proud to announce that the Côr thermostat has reached an important milestone by receiving the coveted ENERGY STAR certification, and was among the first thermostats to receive the certification. Carrier, a world leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
“ENERGY STAR has long been the standard we strive toward for energy efficiency to help our customers make easy, informed decisions when selecting our home comfort products. We’re excited to know our signature thermostat will now include this incredibly important seal of approval,” said Matthew Pine, vice president, marketing, Carrier Residential. “Carrier has invested heavily across the portfolio of products to create a lineup of ENERGY STAR labeled products that help our customers stay comfortable in their homes with the knowledge they are making an environmentally responsible choice.”
“We’re cognizant that climate control systems consume more energy on average than any other appliance in the home and often make up half of a home’s energy consumption and we know the use of a smart, connected thermostat like the Côr thermostat with its energy reporting and intuitive interface will help homeowners make more informed decisions about their energy use.”
Smart thermostats that earn the ENERGY STAR label are independently certified, based on actual field data, to deliver reliable performance and energy savings.[1] According to ENERGY STAR, if everyone used an ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostat, savings would grow to 56 trillion BTUs of energy and $740 million dollars per year, offsetting 13 billion pounds of annual greenhouse gas emissions.[2]
ENERGY STAR smart thermostats, like the Côr thermostat, are third-party certified to:
- Accurately measure temperature
- Quickly enter a low-power standby mode when inactive
- Track and report equipment use and temperature data to the homeowner
- Provide tailored functionality and service that delivers energy savings that make sense for the individual homeowner
“Homeowners can save on energy costs and ultimately reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint with the Côr thermostat,” Pine said. “We are hopeful this ENERGY STAR certification will make it an even more attractive option to savvy homeowners looking for convenience, comfort and the support of Carrier’s nationwide network of dealers.”
