Day 1 one of the combined Kitchen & Bath/International Builders’ Show (KBIS/IBS) Show is in the books and the event, once again did not disappoint. Other than the barking dogs by show’s end, everyone I talked with agreed that the traffic and interest in the show was very satisfying.

The first day of the show took the Mechanical Hub team to the Builders’ floor specific to our niche where we met with PEX manufacturers, PVF companies, boiler & water heating companies, including tankless and some HVAC suppliers.

With much to talk about at the Uponor booth, although a more slanted residential show feel, Uponor stressed the use of up to 3″ PEX vertical risers for commercial plumbing systems. Uponor also was displaying its Uponor Logic Plumbing, which is an arrangement of AquaPEX™ tubing, Engineered Polymer (EP) multiport tees, ProPEX fittings, offering rapid hot water delivery with great flow characteristics, combined with AquaSAFE™ fire protection system.

The blue-shirted Uponor crew talks to a contractor about the advantages of PEX piping in residential plumbing systems.

Melisa Rodriguez, P.E., NICET IV, design services supervisor – Fire Safety discussed combining the efficiency of an Uponor Logic Plumbing System with the AquaSAFE™ Fire Sprinkler System for a business building opportunity.
