Given the worldwide commitment to reducing greenhouse gasses, the phase out of more refrigerants is expected. Newer products will pose challenges with either new hazard levels or flammability. While introduction of these new refrigerants may be 10 to 15 years off in the United States, it is important to start planning now. Last week PHCC participated in a Global Training and Education Symposium on the changing refrigerant environment, held just prior to the AHR Expo in New York City. The participants in this symposium, from many countries around the globe, came together to start a dialogue on harmonization of product information, training requirements, availability of resources and the needs of governmental oversight. PHCC has taken a proactive role to understand the coming changes and to help craft new training and implementation strategies for the future of the industry.
