Operation Rise & Conquer (initiated by the ASA and industry partners APR Supply, First Supply, Hajoca, Oatey, VAMAC, Danze, Gerber Plumbing Fixtures and The Wholesaler Magazine) allows these soldiers to participate in a week long, specially equipped outdoor adventure in Colorado.

The program, guided by Adaptive Sports who provides veterans with special equipment needed to participate in summer or winter activities, is a resourceful and motivating way to help these brave heroes take a break from their hospital rehabilitation environments.  Participants are exposed to horseback riding, biking, rock climbing, fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing, ice climbing and many other challenging, yet rewarding activities.

“The goal of Operation Rise & Conquer is to empower and inspire these wounded soldiers and veterans to regain confidence and trust in themselves and others,” according to Michael  Werner, President and CEO of Danze, Inc. and Gerber Plumbing Fixtures.  “It’s a powerful way for us to provide a healing opportunity for these men and women who sacrificed so much for us.

Stanley McChrystal as their Honorary Chairman.  “I applaud the plumbing industry’s leadership in helping those who have done so much for America,” he says.  “I am delighted to serve as the Honorary Chairman as we recognize the tremendous sacrifices our veterans and soldiers have made for our country.”

Werner is encouraging others in the plumbing industry to participate in Operation Rise & Conquer.  The initial group of partners has set the goal of sending 50-70 veterans through the program each year.  Sponsoring one veteran is $3,000, which includes all air and ground transportation, housing, meals, activities, programs and equipment.

“Financial support is an important, necessary aspect to the program’s success, however, there are also other ways to get involved,” adds Werner.  “Companies who reach certain thresholds of donation have the opportunity to send a volunteer to work along side the professionals – an extremely rewarding and impactful experience.”riseconquer_amputeeiceclimbing
