Ontario, Calif. — IAPMO announced that the state of Ohio now officially recognizes IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) as a conformity assessment body, ensuring that Authorities Having Jurisdiction across the state of Ohio will accept products with an accompanying evaluation report from IAPMO UES.
Following a staff recommendation, the Board of Building Standards approved IAPMO UES’ application to be added to the Ohio Board of Building Standards Recognized Evaluation Services list during its April 4 meeting. Staff will publish the revised list of approved testing laboratories on the board’s website for public access.
IAPMO UES Director Richard Beck said it was an honor to earn this recognition from the state of Ohio.
“Trust is something one earns; it is not given,” he said. “Manufacturers and building officials can rest assured that UES will continue to provide trustworthy service as we grow our market share and footprint in the code arena.”
Hundreds of jurisdictions now recognize the validity of IAPMO ES reports, including the state of Florida; Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties in California; Clark County in Nevada; and the cities of Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Ariz., to name a few.
Products that are reported in an IAPMO UES Evaluation Report have successfully undergone evaluation based on applicable requirements within the Uniform Family of Codes and the International Family of Codes, as well as codes published by other entities.
The UES program is built upon IAPMO’s more than 70 years of experience in evaluating products for code compliance. Accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the program operates under ISO/IEC Guide 65, “General Requirements for Bodies Operating Product Certification Systems.”
IAPMO’s UES offers a full range of recognition opportunities, including recognition for the applicable national model codes, as well as Florida, California, and various other state codes. The UES program lowers the cost and increases the value to code officials of these reports by combining all of these recognitions in one concise report prepared by an internationally recognized product certification body.
