DEWALT® announces the introduction of its new compact 20V MAX* lithium ion drill / driver and hammerdrill with EXTREME RUNTIME. The new drill / driver (DCD790) and hammerdrill (DCD795) feature a brushless motor delivering up to 57% more runtime versus standard brushed motors. The kitted XR drill /driver (DCD790D2) and hammerdrill (DCD795D2) both come with two of the new DEWALT 20V MAX* XR 2.0 Ah lithium ion battery packs (DCB203) that provide 33% more capacity than standard DEWALT 20V MAX* battery packs. Additionally, these battery packs feature a fuel gauge allowing users to check the state of charge remaining in their pack during use.

The DCD790 drill /driver and DCD795 hammerdrill ergonomics feature a slim profile comfort grip handle for ideal balance and a light feel. The drill / driver is a compact 7.2” front-to-back length in a lightweight 3.5 lb package for tight space and overhead use. The hammerdrill is 7.8” front-to-back and 3.6 lb.

Both the drill / driver and hammerdrill include a 2-speed transmission for fast application speeds—0-600/0-2,000 RPM—when drilling and fastening while the hammerdrill boasts 0-34,000 BPM for masonry drilling.

The drill / driver and hammerdrill include a ratcheting metal chuck for tight bit gripping and a repositioned LED work light minimizing chuck shadow for visibility when working in confined spaces.

DEWALT’s new compact XR drills are ideal for remodelers/carpenters, woodworking/cabinet installation, maintenance, electricians, HVAC, plumbing and window & door installation applications.

Product Manager Jason Brodbeck said, “I’m extremely excited to announce the addition of these new brushless drills to our existing 20V MAX* line of products. Professionals will find these compact XR brushless drills deliver outstanding runtime with fast application speeds in an exceptionally compact, lightweight and comfortable tool.”

The XR drill / driver kit (DCD790D2) is expected to retail for $219—$239, the bare drill /driver (DCD790B) tool only is expected to retail for $129–$139 and the hammerdrill kit (DCD795D2) for $239—$259.
