Most 18V DEWALT tools can now be used with DEWALT’s premium 20V MAX* Lithium Ion batteries
DEWALT announces the launch of its 20V MAX* Battery Adapter that works with most DEWALT 18V tools (DCA1820). The adapter is a solution for professionals who are already heavily invested in DEWALT’s 18V system of tools who want to use their tools with the latest battery technology and who are interested in beginning to invest in DEWALT’s 20V MAX* battery platform.
DEWALT’s nickel-cadmium (NiCd) and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries have been industry standards for over 15 years. Now however, lightweight and powerful Lithium Ion batteries have advanced the power-to-weight ratio of battery technology. With virtually no self-discharge, DEWALT’s Lithium Ion compact and premium battery packs offer higher capacity and higher energy density compared to standard 18V NiCd and NiMH batteries without adding weight.
Battery Adapter_3.jpgThe 20V MAX* Battery Adapter allows most of DEWALT’s 18V tools to operate off of the advanced Lithium Ion battery technology. With a collection of over 40 tools in the DEWALT 18V system – and users who continue to operate them on jobsites all over the country – the adapter makes it possible to continue to use fully-functional DEWALT tools on the Lithium Ion premium battery platform. In addition, 20V MAX* batteries offer a wider range of capacities, allowing users to choose the optimal battery for the application. Available DEWALT 20V MAX* Lithium Ion battery capacities include the 1.3Ah, 1.5Ah, 2.0Ah XR, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah XR®, and 5.0Ah XR®. With the adapter, these six battery options, along with DEWALT’s new 2.0Ah and 4.0Ah Bluetooth® enabled batteries, can now all be used with most DEWALT 18V tools.
The adapter also opens the door for DEWALT’s 18V tool users to begin to invest in the advanced technology of DEWALT’s 20V MAX* tools – currently over 70 tools with more to come. Investing now in DEWALT’s 20V MAX* batteries will allow users to purchase less expensive bare tools in the 20V MAX* system, compared to their kitted versions.
The adapter is conveniently packaged in two ways: as a stand-alone unit (DCA1820) for $39 and as a combo with two compact DEWALT 20V MAX* 2.0Ah batteries and a charger (DCA2203C) for $149. The 20V MAX* Battery Adapter for most DEWALT 18V tools makes DEWALT’s tools and tool systems more versatile than ever. The adapter will be available where DEWALT products are sold in October 2015 and will come standard with a 3 year limited warranty, 90 day money back guarantee, and 1 year free service contract.
