Chicago —The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) and the Canadian Standards Association, operating as CSA Group, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to facilitate the exchange of information regarding technical, legislative, and regulatory matters that affect plumbing products industries in North America and globally.
The MOU combines the expertise of the only international organization dedicated to advancing the science of plumbing engineering with the leading standards development organization in Canada. Both ASPE and CSA Group recognize that the globalization of the plumbing industry has generated a need for collaboration among the members of both organizations, and this MOU will provide methods for the sharing of information, particularly utilizing CSA Group’s Communities of Interest (COI) site.
“ASPE is at the forefront of driving current and future needs in plumbing engineering, code development, and standards in both North America and globally,” says Todd Lumpkin, CSA Group Global Business Unit Director, Appliances and Gas. “We are excited to be working with ASPE toward advancements in the plumbing industry through information exchange, the development of technical articles, and collaboration sites.”
Utilizing the technical knowledge of ASPE’s 6,000 members and CSA Group’s global network, the two organizations will work together to improve the quality of plumbing system designs and to help ensure that plumbing products are safer, more efficient, and more affordable to benefit consumers internationally. The collaboration will also help ensure that plumbing product and system designs are uniformly implemented around the world through the development of consistent consensus standards.
