Symmons names Smart Scholarship winner

Braintree, Mass. — Symmons Industries, a family-owned and operated manufacturer of plumbing products, announced that Erica Killam of Brooklyn, N.Y. is the winner of the 2014 Symmons Smart Scholarship.

Symmons sponsored the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality or (NEWH) program through a $4,000 scholarship to a budding design or architecture student.

“We are pleased NEWH awarded the scholarship to Killam. Her experience in the hospitality industry in combination with her passion for design made her an ideal recipient for this scholarship.

Erica clearly demonstrates the qualities of a motivated design professional and is a strong example of the talent we like to see in the hospitality industry,” said Angela Coffman, vice president of marketing for Symmons.

The Symmons Smart Scholarship will be presented to Ms. Killam on Wednesday, May 14th at 9:00 a.m. during the NEWH breakfast at HD EXPO 2014 in Las Vegas. Symmons will celebrate Erica’s scholarship with a cupcake and champagne reception in their booth #2905 on Wednesday, May 14th from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Killam graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Cornell University and is currently working toward a Masters of Science in Interior Design at The Pratt Institute. She is scheduled to bring her new design skills to the hospitality field after
graduation in 2015.
