MCAA mourns passing of Wayne T. Day

about-history2Wayne T. Day, 1997 MCAA president and former president of John J. Kirlin, Inc. (Rockville, MD), passed away on June 17.  He was 70.  A graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in chemical engineering, Day was president of the Kirlin Group from 1984 until 2006, when he retired. Under his leadership, the company grew substantially with the opening of offices in Florida and the Carolinas, development of a fire sprinkler company and the establishment of a construction management business unit that contracts with the federal government on projects throughout the U.S. Day was actively involved with the industry through the MCA of Metropolitan Washington and the MCAA. He was involved with MCAA’s industry education initiatives, a member of MCAA Board of Directors and served as president from 1997 to 1998. He was also active in the community and gave generously to many causes, especially those that support educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged students.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, July 14 at the Potomac United Methodist Church in Potomac, MD.  In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Mr. Day’s memory to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and designated for the Wayne T. Day Foundation for Alzheimer’s Prevention Research Fund II (550 N. Broadway, Suite 916, Baltimore, MD 21205).
