Ontario, Calif.  — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is offering a new publication, the 2012 Guide to Important Code Changes, to aid users of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) in understanding and applying the substantive changes within the 2012 editions of each code.

Each code change is broken down into an organized format that illustrates the notable code changes, explains why the changes were made, and describes how those changes will impact code users in the field. Code users will find this guide to be an essential tool in getting up to speed on the new code changes that will affect them
the most.

The 2012 Guide to Important Code Changes replaces the Cumulative Analysis books previously published by IAPMO to detail code changes from the previous edition. This enhanced version provides even more practical information and a user-friendlier format.

In order to provide the industry with a focused, practical, and more useful code change document, IAPMO, with the assistance of IAPMO’s Education and Training Committee, created this new 2012 Guide to Important Code Changes. Rather than attempting to address each individual change, this publication focuses on only the most important changes as they pertain to users in the field. Each change is clearly illustrated by utilizing green, underlined text to indicate additions to the code and red, struck-out text to indicate deletions.

Each change is examined in three easy-to-understand sections:
 What Changed
 Why It Changed
 What it Means to Me

The 2012 Guide to Important Code Changes is available in hardcopy and in a downloadable digital format via the IAPMO Online Store at http://iapmomembership.org/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=3.
