Olathe, Kan. — An international leader in high-efficiency water technology, Grundfos has secured a five-year extension on its facility in Olathe, Kan., which serves as headquarters for the company’s U.S. sales force.

The extension will give the company, a manufacturer that employs more than 250 people in the Kansas City area, the time it needs to develop and implement plans to build a more permanent space in Johnson County.

“This extension further strengthens our long-term commitment to the Kansas City area,” said Dennis Wierzbicki, president of Grundfos USA. “Grundfos established a presence in the U.S. 40 years ago and, since then, the American market has become absolutely crucial to our global business.”

Grundfos Kansas City was ranked one of the “Top 100 Privately Held Companies in Kansas City” by Ingram’s Magazine in 2013. In 2012, the magazine also honored the facility as a “Best Company to Work for in Kansas City” for its unique workplace culture.

This year, Grundfos celebrates its 40th anniversary in the U.S. with the Kansas City Walk for Water, a philanthropic event that funds safe water systems in the developing world. The Walk will take place Sept. 18 at Kauffman Stadium, where the company recently installed 18 state-of-the-art pumps that together save the Royals a significant amount of energy each year. Grundfos was named the “Official Pump and Pump Systems Provider for the Kansas City Royals” in 2012.

In addition to sales, Grundfos Kansas City is home to a number of functional departments, including human resources, information systems, credit and finance, customer service, product management, marketing, customer and employee training, and Grundfos’ North American headquarters for research and development.
