General Pipe Cleaner’s Gen-Ear LE™ leak detection system

GenEar-CaseThe Gen-Ear LE™ from General Pipe Cleaners is a simplified, economical water leak locator with a purported stronger sound amplification than other systems on the market. The Gen-Ear LE pinpoints water leaks in residential and commercial water lines, whether they are concealed by concrete slabs, walls, swimming pools, or hot tubs. The compact amplifier fits easily in the palm of the user’s hand and provides noise-free amplification with built-in preset audio filters that eliminate the need to guess which settings to use. High-performance headphones with noise cancellation features block out interference from surrounding ambient noise. The advanced acoustic ground sensor listens for the gurgling or hammering of water escaping from a cracked pipe under concrete, asphalt or tile. Probe rods are used for soft surfaces such as grass or carpet, and the magnetic attachment is ideal for above-ground pipes or hydrants. A safety button in the amplifier mutes sudden loud noises when the button is released. Two AA batteries power the Gen-Ear LE system for 20 or more hours. To extend battery life, the system automatically shuts down when headphones are removed, and the power light blinks to indicate when batteries are low.
For especially hard-to-find leaks, the sound-amplification module (SAM) adds air to the line, increasing the water pressure, which amplifies the leak sounds making them easier to locate.
