The U.S. Dept. of Energy (DOE) has released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for residential boiler products’ energy conservation standards; one of the proposed changes is to raise gas-fired hot water boilers to a minimum 85% AFUE. The DOE states the increase in minimum efficiencies of these products will result in energy savings and environmental benefits.

Representing the contractor in the rulemaking process, PHCC will participate in a DOE public meeting on Thursday, April 30, in Washington, D.C. (also available as a webinar). PHCC will be assessing the feasibility and impact of these proposed market changes.

Public comments on this proposed rule are due by June 1, 2015.
