New for 2019, Taco Comfort Solutions’® 0018e high-efficiency, Bluetooth®-enabled circulator brings a new level of control to residential and light commercial hydronic systems.

The ECM-powered 0018e is a solution for contractors who want the durability, efficiency and simplicity of other Taco ECM circulators, while looking for more system feedback and control than has been previously available.

The circulator features Bluetooth communication to a mobile app.  This provides real time control, diagnostics and reporting, such as installation history, power consumption, performance and runtime.   The installer can select between multiple constant speed, proportional pressure, and constant pressure modes as well as activeADAPT™, Taco’s self-adjusting proportional pressure mode.

Among the innovative features that make the 0018e reliable and easy to install, Taco’s BIO Barrier® protects the pump from system contaminants, especially black iron oxide that otherwise tends to collect around strong ECM magnets.  Also, SureStart®, which automatically unblocks a locked rotor and purges air from the circulator.  The 0018e features 18 feet maximum head with a maximum flow of 16 GPM. It’s also double insulated, which eliminates the need for a ground wire.

Due to its energy-saving ECM design, the circulator qualifies for most state, regional, and utility efficiency incentive programs.  An integral flow check is included, and both two-bolt or two-way flange models are available.

Contractors who designs their systems with precision can now get a circulator with the performance and control to match. The 0018e will be available in the third quarter of 2019.

Xylem Bell & Gossett introduced its new line of double suction centrifugal pumps designed specifically for HVAC systems. The Series e-HSC features advanced hydraulics for powerful performance and best-in-class efficiency, along with a compact design for easier installation and maintenance.

“With its robust hydraulic capabilities, the Series e-HSC is ideal for large capacity, high-head systems with high inlet pressure, a common challenge in commercial HVAC systems,” said Alan Jones, Global Product Manager, Bell & Gossett Centrifugal Pumps. “The versatile Series e-HSC is available in up to 90 model options with extensive flow/head coverage to suit of wide variety of HVAC system requirements.”

The Series e-HSC simplifies B&G’s double suction pump portfolio and provides greater system optimization to improve efficiency and increase energy savings. The product line also boasts a smaller footprint, greater reliability and lower life cycle cost compared to similar pumps. In addition to saving space in the mechanical room, the e-HSC’s inline configuration enables simplified installation and maintenance in new or retrofit systems.

The Series e-HSC is suitable for commercial buildings such as hospitals, shopping centers and malls, hotels and resorts, sports arenas, office buildings and airports for systems that require chillers, cooling towers, distributive pumping, district heating and cooling, primary and secondary pumping or process application. Choosing the option that is the best fit for the installation is easy through B&G’s online selection tool, ESP-Systemwize™.

A new volute design — either single or dual volute based on the hydraulic constraints — extends bearing life and reduces shaft deflection within the Preferred Operating Range (POR) of the pump, from 70 to 120 percent of the Best Efficiency Point (BEP). When running within the POR of the e-HSC, bearing life expectancy will exceed 100,000 hours (L10). The e-HSC is designed with large “Efficiency Islands,” within the POR as well, which help to increase efficiency at partial loads using variable frequency drives.

The e-HSC is equipped with mechanical seals customized for HVAC applications that support a variety of installations regardless of incoming pressure. Due to the standard spacer coupling, routine maintenance of mechanical seals and bearings can be performed on both sides of the pump without opening the upper casing, reducing downtime and cost. Casings are available in cast iron or ductile iron, along with standard option materials for the impeller, shaft and wear rings.

Weil Pump, A Wilo Company, now offers heavy-duty package systems that are fully customizable with high-quality components, all manufactured in the United States, and can be built to order in as little as two weeks.

Weil’s package systems come standard with a fiberglass basin with a reinforcement band that increases structural integrity by nearly 200%, pumps, removal system, controls and cover. The package provides a convenient solution to the concerns that arise with working in confined spaces, as it comes pre-assembled to the job site and is simple to install, thanks to easy-access lifting handles and threaded inlet and outlet openings.

One of the benefits of a Weil package system is the exclusivity of dealing solely with Weil Pump. By allowing reps to order the entire system, clients no longer have to coordinate or wait on parts from different suppliers. Additionally, the package system ensures that all components are carefully measured and placed within the basin to fit that particular specification.

In addition, the basin floor comes pre-studded for mounting a Weil quick-removal sub-base.

Weil’s quick removal systems allow for the installation and removal of the pumps without the need to enter the basin and are available for 2”, 3”, 4” and 6” pumps. The package system may also include a duplex valve assembly consisting of two check valves and an isolation valve spaced to be compatible with a duplex set of 2”, 3” or 4” quick removal mounted pumps.

Finally, Weil’s package systems are available with a wide variety of level controls and accessories, including tethered float switches, oil-sensing switches, transducers and simplex, duplex, triplex or quadriplex control panels. The 006e3 is one of the newest models in Taco Comfort Solutions’® 00e® Series of high-efficiency, ECM-powered circulators. The infinitely-variable, wet-rotor circulator is designed specifically to make installation and operation of domestic hot water recirculation systems easier and more efficient.

With the same quality and reliability that installers have come to expect from Taco’s 00e line, the 006e3 has a dial to select from three performance curves to best match the application, and a setting selection guide to make the choice simple. The whisper-quiet, permanent-magnet ECM motor uses up to 85 percent less electricity than conventional pumps of the same size.

Whether used in a new construction hot water recirculation system with dedicated return lines, or in a retrofit application where water is returned via the cold water line, installation of the 006e3 is easy. The pump’s compact design is ideal for tight spaces, and multiple connection options are available. The circulator is double-insulated so that a ground wire is not necessary, and a three-color LED indicates status. Taco’s SureStart® technology also automatically unblocks and purges air from the line.
