Foley Mechanical, Lorton, Va., solved a mold issue with the installation of a Therma-Stor Ultra-Aire 70H dehumidifier in the basement of a Great Falls, Va. home.
“This home had a mold and humidity problem,” says Foley. “We installed this dehumidifier along with a bath exhaust fan to help resolve the issue. This will help resolve mold growth due to high humidity levels.”
From the manufacturer:
The Ultra-Aire 70H is the first compact, high-efficiency, whole-house ventilating dehumidifier designed to fit in tight, low-clearance applications. The unit removes up to 70 pints per day, is Energy Star® rated and provides effective air filtration (MERV 13). The Ultra-Aire 70H is designed to handle up to 1,800 sq. ft., which makes it ideal for a small home, condo, or apartment application. The unit can be tied into a forced air duct system, ducted with separate ducting, or used in a freestanding application. It can be installed in mechanical rooms, closets, attics, basements, and crawlspaces.
The Ultra-Aire 70H has an innovative cabinet design that easily converts to either vertical or horizontal airflow discharge which allows for easier installation in tight spaces. Flexible airflow configurations allow the Ultra-Aire 70H to be installed in locations where other dehumidifiers don’t fit due to duct issues and size constraints.
Optional fresh outdoor air may be ducted to the unit via a “T” adaptor to the inlet duct. This provides fresh air to dilute indoor pollutants and maintain a normal oxygen content in the air. The amount of fresh air ventilation can be regulated by a variety of dampers and controls.

Right now, customers are searching online for contractors to work in their homes. Today Mechanical Hub takes a closer look at Bradford White’s new Contractor Directory that can make it easier for customers to find professional contractors. The directory’s optional custom quote feature provided by ServiceWhale allows contractors to lock-in the work faster than ever before.
Many manufacturers have contractor directories on their websites, but they are usually outdated – and offer very little added value over a standard web search.
Bradford White’s new Contractor Directory offers a number of significant upgrades over existing sites. Contractors can register for a free profile, which allows them to list their full business profile with company information, industry certifications, job photos of previous projects, and even reviews through Google and Yelp integration.
Listings are geographically based, so contractors will be connected to local customers who are looking for help right now.
Contractors can choose an Advanced Profile option to dramatically increase the functionality of the directory. ServiceWhale’s consumer-facing quoting technology allows homeowners to answer a few simple questions about their needs and get real, custom quotes from the contractors of their choice instantly – without the need for an onsite visit or a phone call.
By using the directory, contractors can save a significant amount of time (and money) it takes to generate a quote in a traditional face-to-face interaction. In fact, the ServiceWhale quoting technology helps expedite the process of getting firm quotes from about 30 hours to just two minutes.
Contractors who agree to license ServiceWhale’s quoting technology as a part of a paid Advanced Profile will also have access to several lead generation tools for online communication with homeowners. Furthermore, ServiceWhale will grant rights to those contractors to implement the quoting platform into their own native websites.
In offering this solution, Bradford White is seeking to improve the experience for both homeowners and plumbing contractors – to make the whole process faster and easier.
“Our professional contractor customers are starting to look more and more toward the manufacturers they support to help them grow their businesses, especially in ways that address how the consumer shopping experience is evolving,” says Carl Pinto, Director of Marketing at Bradford White. “The Bradford White contractors who were part of the research in developing this new directory, have helped us shape what amounts to a semi-custom marketing solution and customer contact portal that reflects the unique aspects of a participating contractor’s business.
Bradford White installing contractors interested in registering can do so by creating their free profile at https://contractorfinder.bradfordwhite.com/listbus.
