Ambler, PA – Bradford White Water Heaters recently opened the doors to its International Technical Excellence Center (iTEC) training facility. The newly built 18,500 sq. ft. complex, located adjacent to the company’s manufacturing facilities in Middleville, MI, was built with the goal of creating a comfortable, hands-on learning center with cutting-edge technologies and building systems. The iTEC center features a 64 seat, classroom style lecture hall with stadium seating and a high-tech audio visual system with HD cameras, a 5-million BTU capacity “live-fire” training lab with 10 working stations for live demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences, an on-sight business center, a large conference room, and a full cafeteria and dining area. At the heart of the new facility is a 4,000-square-foot mechanical room that showcases an energy efficient, variable-frequency drive HVAC system with boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, geothermal equipment and domestic hot water tanks.
“Each and every operating component of the building’s mechanical system serves as a training tool. There’s no substitute for seeing these components in operation and seeing how they interconnect; it’s hands-on training in the best sense,” said Dustin Bowerman, Director of Technical Services at Bradford White.
The iTEC facility is also LEED Gold Certified incorporating many environmentally friendly and renewable energy features, the highlights of which include a rain water harvest system with a 30,000 gallon storage capacity that provides the building with non-potable water, and a solar thermal and photovoltaic system that supplies heat and hot water throughout the building and supplements electrical power.
