Chicago — In anticipation of its 50th anniversary next year, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) unveiled its new logo.
The idea for a new logo was conceptualized as part of ASPE’s goal to enhance recognition of plumbing engineering as a unique and forward-thinking profession that is vital to the construction industry. ASPE is the only international association for those involved in the design and engineering of plumbing systems, and its members play a crucial role in protecting public health and the environment through the design of safe and efficient plumbing systems including water, waste, fire suppression, medical gas, and other fluid-handling systems. “In developing a new logo for the Society, the ASPE Board of Directors wanted to incorporate the following: a look that represents the future of ASPE, colors that show our commitment to designing plumbing systems that are efficient and safe to both the public and the environment, and the name of the Society clearly stated,” says ASPE Graphic Designer Rachel Boger, who worked with the Board and staff in developing the new design.
The design of the new ASPE logo reflects the Society’s commitment to championing water- and energy-efficient plumbing systems and product manufacturing technologies. “The color green in the logo represents growth and sustainability and highlights our new direction and outlook for the future,” Boger says. “The circle represents the need to incorporate sustainability into plumbing systems and reinforces the importance of reuse and efficiency as a part of daily life.”
ASPE Executive Director/CEO Jim Kendzel, MPH, CAE, adds, “I think it is important to note that a change in our logo also represents the positive cultural changes and improved level of service that have been occurring at ASPE during the last several years and the significant future opportunities for our Society and the members we serve.”
“Looking forward, the ASPE Board of Directors realized that we needed a new, modern logo that clearly spelled out our name and represented our vision for the future,” says ASPE President William F. Hughes Jr., CPD, LEED AP, FASPE. “We could not be more pleased with the results.”
